Fender Mustang ’77 vintage reissue model MG77 is in exceptional condition and in great working order. Rare find outside of Japan. As are mustang horses.
The maple neck has a slender C shape at the nut with quite a bit of shoulder in every position and a heartier shape in the higher registers of the fretboard, measuring .835″ at the 1st fret and .960″ at the 12th. The slender fret wire is exceedingly clean, showing just a touch of wear on the crowns of frets 1-2, and virtually no wear further up the gloss-finished fretboard. The guitar conforms to vintage spec with a 7 1/4″ fretboard radius, 24″ scale, and 1 9/16″ nut width. On the headstock, the original Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well, even with liberal vibrato use.
The electronics function as intended, and the chrome hardware is shiny & clean, showing only light patina on the bridge base and control plate. The vibrato actuates easily for smooth warbles and dives. In terms of cosmetic wear, there is very little to report, and the gloss finish shines and shows just a few faint finish scratches and microscopic nicks on the body. The neck profile is a silky smooth lightly ambered gloss.
